What to expect with Dr I-Ferne Tan as your fertility specialist

Your first consultation

Unlike many other fertility clinics which can only provide appointments months away, most new patients can be offered an initial consult with Dr Tan within four weeks. As both male and female fertility factors are often present when couples have trouble conceiving, she recommends that both partners attend this appointment to give a more comprehensive overview of the situation (a fee discount applies for joint consultations).

To make her expertise more accessible to more patients, Dr Tan consults at multiple locations and also offers telehealth for convenience.

Your initial consultation with Dr Tan will include:

- Discussion and review

  • Review of your fertility journey

  • Review of your health to identify fertility factors (both male and female)

- Basic fertility tests

  • Hormone profiles

  • Prenatal blood tests

  • Tubal test

  • Endometrial/uterine test

  • Sperm test

- Further tests that may be necessary, depending on findings

  • Blood tests and genetic tests

  • Specialised ultrasounds

  • Endometrial assessment and/or hysteroscopy

  • Laparoscopic/hysteroscopic surgery

- The opportunity to ask any questions you may have at this stage

Your follow-up consultation

At your subsequent appointment with Dr Tan, she will:

- Review your test results and explain their significance

- Formulate a management plan with you, taking into consideration:

  • Your wishes, goals, and values as a couple

  • Flexibility

- Discuss your management plan, which may include one or more of the following:

  • Further tests to investigate an abnormal result

  • Ovulation tracking

  • Ovulation induction

  • Intrauterine insemination (IUI)

  • Invitro fertilisation (IVF)

  • Surgical correction* of any barrier to pregnancy

*Dr Tan performs all her own surgeries. You will not need to be referred to a separate surgeon.
